Providing Reliable Service: 2026 Rate Adjustment Begins in February

To continue providing safe, reliable service, the Clark County REMC Board of Directors has approved a 2.9% rate adjustment beginning with February bills. For the average household using 1,200 kWh per month, this equals about $5 more per month.

This adjustment includes:

  • Fixed charge: $34.50 → $36 per month
  • Energy charge: 10.008¢ → 11.776¢ per kWh

We know any increase affects your budget. That’s why we delayed this change as long as possible and kept it as low as possible.

Why the Change:

Like groceries, insurance, and materials, the cost of delivering electricity has risen. This adjustment helps us:

  • Upgrade electric meters for security and reliability
  • Clear vegetation and replace aging equipment to reduce outages
  • Invest in safety, technology, and member programs
  • Maintain financial strength to meet future challenges

What It’s Not Paying For:

  • New or expanded REMC facilities: While a future expansion is certain, we are a few years away from that reality.
  • Large commercial or data center business costs: Nearly all upgrades required to serve an incoming business are paid by that business, not by other REMC members.
  • Profit for investors: REMC is a not-for-profit organization, owned by the people we serve in Southern Indiana.

Every dollar we collect goes back into your cooperative, supporting reliability, safety, and local service.

Thank you for trusting Clark County REMC to power your homes and businesses.
