What Motivates You To Serve as Director?
I am the incumbent director for District 6, and I wish to continue to serve our members. I believe with the member growth that we are seeing in our REMC community, we have to continually look ahead and determine the best possible way to improve the electric grid in order to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient energy to our members. We need to explore all possibilities of providing the best service we can. I listen carefully to all matters brought to the board. I have served in leadership positions on every board that I have been involved with, and I understand the importance of working together to make the best decisions for all who are involved. I feel this makes me a very good candidate to continue to serve on the board. I have always been involved in the community during most of my adult life, serving on several different boards and committees. I like the fact that the REMC is a cooperative that is owned by the members, and I want to continue to help make it the best that it can be.
Why Are You the Most Qualified Candidate?
I have served on the Clark County REMC board of directors since 2011. I have served as secretary, vice president, and served four years as president of the board. I have continued my education as a director by attending NRECA-sponsored institutes, workshops, and seminars, and I have successfully completed the requirements for the Credentialed Cooperative Director, Board Leadership Certificate, and Director Gold certificate. What motivates you to serve as director?
Serving as a director for Clark County REMC since 2020 has been an honor to serve the members of District 7. I am seeking to continue this service because I am deeply committed to our cooperative, our members, and the communities we serve. As our region continues to grow, I believe strong, informed leadership is essential to ensure we continue to provide reliable, affordable, and innovative electric service.
With more than 35 years of experience in the electric utility industry, I bring a broad perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing our cooperative. My time on the Clark County REMC board — and in my current role as vice president — has given me the opportunity to help guide important decisions on infrastructure investment, system reliability, and member services. In addition, my service on the Indiana Electric Cooperatives board allows me to advocate for Clark County REMC and stay engaged with statewide and national issues that affect our members.
What motivates me most is the opportunity to use my experience to make a difference — to represent our members’ interests, support responsible growth, and help position our cooperative for the future. I take seriously the trust our members place in their directors, and I am committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and a strong focus on member value.
Clark County REMC is more than an electric utility — it’s a vital part of our community’s future. I want to continue working with my fellow board members, management, and staff to ensure that we meet today’s needs while preparing for tomorrow’s challenges. It would be an honor to continue serving the members of District 7.
Why are you the most qualified candidate?
I’ve spent my entire career in the electric utility industry — more than 35 years — and I’ve seen how reliable, affordable power can truly make a difference in people’s lives. That experience, along with my passion for serving our members, is what I bring to the Clark County REMC board.
I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in electrical engineering and engineering management. Over the years, I’ve worked for investor-owned utilities like PSI Energy and Louisville Gas & Electric/Kentucky Utilities, as well as electric cooperatives such as Wabash Valley Power Alliance and Central Indiana Power. Those experiences have given me a broad understanding of the industry and a real appreciation for what makes co-ops special — the focus on people, not profits.
I’ve also held a variety of engineering and management positions in areas like energy efficiency, demand response, operations, and smart grid development. Working with utilities across the country has given me insight into how our industry is evolving and how Clark County REMC can stay ahead of the curve while continuing to provide dependable, affordable service to our members.
What really drives me is the opportunity to put that knowledge to work for my community. I take the responsibility of representing our members seriously, and I’m committed to helping REMC stay strong, innovative, and responsive to the needs of the people we serve.
