We have come to our final district profile, District 7. At the far southeast corner of our territory, District 7 has experienced more growth than any other area by a long shot. Fueled by the economic development of Jeffersonville and Utica, this area has nearly doubled in population over the last decade. Director and Board Vice President Jeff Myers shared some thoughts about his time in District 7:
Where Is Your Favorite Spot To Relax in Your District?
Chapel Lake Park is close to me, and I like to go for walks around the lake and on the walking trail through the park. It’s also within walking distance from my house in Stonybrooke Subdivision.
What Hobbies or Activities Do You Enjoy Outside of Your Responsibilities With Clark County REMC?
I play the keyboard in a local cover band called JAKJAW and am part of the Praise & Worship Team at Eastside Christian Church. I also like riding around in my Jeep on sunny days.
Tell Me About Your Family, Any Pets, or Children.
My wife, Kelly, is a retired school teacher and is taking up golf as her new hobby. My oldest daughter, Karissa Slate, is a doctor of physical therapy and lives with her partner Krista, and our 2 grandchildren,
Sutton and Lincoln, in Charlestown. My son, Evan, and his wife, Caitlyn, are both English teachers at Jeffersonville High School. Evan is a published author and a wrestling coach, and they live in New Albany. My youngest daughter, Shelby, is the general manager and theater director at Comedy Sportz, and she lives in Indianapolis.
Can You Share a Memorable Experience You’ve Had While Serving on the Board?
I have never been associated with a better group of individuals who work so well together to meet our shared goal of serving our co-op members the best we can. It was an honor to be selected by my fellow board members to serve as an officer on the Clark County REMC Board of Directors and to represent Clark County on the Indiana Electric Cooperatives Board of Directors.
