Finding the Right Balance

Balance. We may not always notice it, but it’s so important in life. We all want to give our best to the people we love. But if we pour all our energy into just one relationship, others will suffer. As much as we want to, we can’t do everything for everyone all the time. But we can find balance if we are intentional with our time, attention, and energy, giving the best we have to each relationship in the moment.
The same is true for your electric cooperative. While we strive for excellence in every department, true success comes from finding balance. For example, our co-op invests more than $1,000,000 each year to remove trees and vegetation that could cause outages during storms or slow our linemen during power restoration. A strong vegetation program is essential, not just for reliability, but also for our crews’ safety. And it’s working. In 2024, Clark County REMC provided power to our members 99.98% of the time!
Truthfully, we could double that budget and improve even more. But overspending in one area limits our ability to invest in others. Reliable power is just one piece of the bigger picture. We must also deliver stable and affordable rates, offer secure and convenient technologies, provide valuable member services, and prepare to serve the growing needs of current and future generations. Being the best cooperative isn’t about being number one in a single category. It’s about finding the balance in everything.
If you read my article last month, you know we are evaluating expansions to our workforce and facilities in the coming years. Balance will be our guiding principle at every stage of the journey. That’s my commitment to you: to pursue excellence in every area, while holding all things together with thoughtful, responsible balance.
