We know it takes teamwork in order to make any project go according to plan.

When applying for electric service (new or existing) there are steps to follow in an effort to expedite the process. It’s a good idea to give us a call or plan on stopping by our office to take care of business.

Application Process

County Permit

The permit number is needed when applying for service. Apply for your permit at the county offices. This is needed for construction of new services only.

Signed Easement

Clark County REMC requires a signed, notarized easement on file before any work can be done. This is required for both new and existing services unless a recorded easement already exists. The names on the easement must be exactly as recorded on the property deed. REMC notaries are available during normal business hours.

Signatures Required

Clark County REMC requires a signature for both the Service Application and the Membership Application. These forms are created once you apply for service via phone. The forms can be sent via fax, e-mail or you can stop by the office during business hours.

Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee is required prior to your service being connected. The fee is $25 per occurrence and not only includes the fieldwork but also the administrative costs of doing business. This fee is non-refundable.

Clark County REMC accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard and VISA for your convenience.

Security Deposit

Clark County REMC will run an on-line credit check when applying for service. If your credit score is unsatisfactory, a security deposit of up to a 3-month average bill will be required before electric service is connected.

Clark County REMC accepts Discover, MasterCard and VISA for your convenience.

Line Extension Policy

When building your home, you may be asked to pay for or contribute to the cost of providing the service.

Clark County REMC furnishes a construction allowance credit toward the cost of installing service to a permanent residence. Costs exceeding this amount require a non-refundable contribution in aid to construction in advance of the line extension.

County Permits

The proper county permit must be obtained before service can be connected by Clark County REMC.

Temporary units must have a ground fault interrupter circuit protector.

If a meter is disconnected because of a fire, an inspection is needed before a reconnect can be made in Clark and Floyd counties.

Installation of Meter Base

All meter bases must be installed at the closest corner of the structure (side of the house) nearest to the source of service (transformer/pedestal). Clark County REMC will spot the location of the meter base. If the meter base is installed anywhere else on the house, it will be the member’s responsibility to relocate the base to the location specified by Clark County REMC personnel. Clark County REMC will not run service past the designated location without cost to the member. If the meter base is installed on the opposite side of the house from the source, the member will be invoiced $200 which must be paid before service can be connected.
